Rummy Rules That Can Help You Play All Variants

The 13-card game of Rummy, the most dominating online game in India, is played with different names in RummyCircle. Typically, there are three types of online Rummy. They are listed as below:

  3. Pool Rummy

Although all these three types comply with majority of the  Rummy rules, each of the said variants has its own sets of guidelines, uniquely designed. Without further ado, let us look into the rules of each of the variants.

Points Rummy:

Points Rummy is so called because this game is played for points having pre-decided values. Since this Rummy lasts for only a single deal, it is called as the fastest form of Rummy.

Objective:

The objective of the points Rummy is to make a valid declaration with at least one pure sequence, sequences and sets.

No. Of players: Two to Six

Pack of cards: Two or more pack of 53 cards including a printed joker per pack.

The player who drops out of the game on the very first move gets 20 points whereas the one who drops out in the middle gets 40 points and the one who drops out at the end of the game gets as much as 80 points. The person who gets zero points is declared the winner of this type of Rummy. So, the players have to ensure that they carry only a fewer points even if they feel losing is imminent in a given situation.

Calculation of winning value:

Winning value = (sum of points of all opponents) x (Rupee value of the point) – RummyCircle fees.

Deals Rummy:

This Rummy is the most popular of all Rummy variants and the easiest one to comprehend even for the beginners. Deals Rummy is so called as the game commences with the pre- decided number of deals and the players are allotted chips for each deal where a chip is equivalent to one point.

Objective:

The objective of the game is to make a valid declaration with sequences and sets one of which should be a pure sequence.

No. Of players: Two to Six

Pack of cards: One or more pack of 53 cards including a printed joker per pack.

A person is declared the winner if he wins all the deals carrying highest number of chips. A player who drops at the beginning even before the first move gets 20 points and the one who drops in the middle gets 40 points with 80 points going to the one who drops out only at the end.

Calculation of winning value:

Winning value = (sum of points of all losing players) X One chip.

Pool Rummy:

The pool Rummy is one which is played with fixed elimination points based on the type of this Rummy variant that you choose to play. 101 and 201 pool Rummies are the two types of this Rummy variant where 101 and 201 are nothing but the elimination points fixed. A player who reaches the elimination points is supposed to leave the game.

Objective:

The objective of this Rummy is to have a minimum number of points at the end of the game, forming at least two sequences one of which should be a pure life.

No. Of players: Two to Six

Pack of cards: Two or more packs of 53 cards with a printed joker per pack.

The first and middle drop gets 20 and 40 points respectively in case of 101 pool Rummy and the same situation gets you 25 and 50 points if you are playing 201 pool Rummy. The points you get carried forward and hence if the elimination point is arrived at calculating the sum of points obtained during each game. If you are playing 101 pool Rummy and the points you have obtained goes over 101 points you stand eliminated. The player who carries minimum points upon declaration is the winner of this Rummy variant.
